From McKinsey to digital manufacturing

If you had asked me a few months ago if I would ever leave my job at McKinsey, I would have swiftly answered, "Why would I ever do that?" I essentially had it all: great colleagues, a very rewarding (and challenging) job, a clear career path, and an apartment by the beach in sunny Sydney, Australia.

Yet, here I am, back in Montreal, joining Vention. Of course, the urge to build something had a lot to do with my move, but it’s not the main reason (after all, I was approached by several impressive start-ups and established corporations to help them grow or rebuild their activities).

What really convinced me to join this extraordinary team was the opportunity to truly reshape a very important (and large) industry. Vention’s mission is to substantially reduce the complexity of designing and sourcing industrial equipment and machinery. This allows large corporations to focus on value creation (i.e. improving and manufacturing their products) and smaller players to become more competitive (by accessing solutions and equipment previously only available to larger players). By deploying a fully digital solution that promotes usability and efficiency over technical ability and outdated standards, a much broader group is in the position to deploy fully functional equipment without the intervention of engineers, and with very limited CAD experience: a true democratization.

Trust me, you will continue to hear about Vention!
