Purpose and Scope of the Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and disclose your personal information and how your personal information can be accessed, rectified, and deleted when necessary. This policy also explains how cookies are used on the vention.io (the “vention.io Website”).

We have recently updated our Privacy Policy because we believe you should always have access to the data we collect from you and how we use it. If you signed up for an account prior to May 22nd, 2018, we will ask you to agree to the new Privacy Policy when you use Vention on or after May 22nd, 2018; until May 22nd, 2018 the prior Privacy Policy will continue to be in effect. The updated Privacy Policy will automatically come into effect for all existing users on May 25th, 2018. Your continued use of Vention means you agree to our revised Privacy Policy, so please take a few minutes to read and understand it.

This policy does not extend to websites operated by third parties. Vention is therefore not liable for their privacy policies, procedures and practices.

1. Personal Information Collected

1.1 Information that you provide to us

We ask for and collect your personal information in several ways, including when you obtain information on our products and services, sign up for an account, contact us by telephone or by email, post on our social media accounts, or register for our newsletter. Our systems automatically process content and information you and others provide in order for us to optimize your customer experience.

Depending on the circumstances, personal information may include the following:

    • Account Information.

When you sign up for a Vention account, we require certain information such as your first name, last name, and email address.

    • Payment and Shipping Information.

When you make a financial transaction with Vention (i.e. make a purchase), we require your billing and shipping address, telephone number, and payment information (bank account or credit card information) in order to process payments and comply with applicable law.

1.2 Information provided on our Website

Information we collect through our website may include:

    • Usage and Log Data.

We receive information when you view or engage with our services (e.g. download White Papers), which we refer to as “Log Data”, even if you have not created an account with Vention. We use Log Data to operate and optimize our services. For example, we review Log Data to determine what content is popular on our vention.io Website.

    • Connection.

We receive information, such as your IP address, your frequency and duration of your activities.

    • Links.

In order to operate our services, we keep track of how you interact with links across our platform. This may include links on our vention.io Website, email newsletters, and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).

    • Cookie data.

Our Website, like most other commercial websites, also uses cookies. These are files that are installed on your computer hard drive or web browser in order to collect information such as your language of preference, browsing history and browser type and version, all for the purpose of optimizing your experience on our vention.io Website. These cookies cannot be used to extract personal information. However, we can match the information collected by cookies with other information through vention.io. Disabling cookies on your browser could adversely affect your browsing experience on the vention.io Website.

2. The Use and Sharing of Your Personal Information

We collect, store, and process information, including personal and non-personal information, mainly:

  • to allow us to provide our products and services
  • to answer questions and information requests
  • for the purposes of marketing, advertising or contests
  • for any other purposes authorized or required by law

Where you have provided consent, we share your personal information, as described at the time of consent, such as when you authorize a third party application or website to access your Vention account. We disclose non-personal data, such as aggregated information like the total number of times people engaged with a document on the vention.io Website to third parties.

Your design data, including any imported parts, is always private to Vention and is not disclosed with third parties, unless you explicitly choose to (e.g. sharing your assembly on social media).

When we disclose your personal information to third parties, we take reasonable measures to ensure that the rules set forth in this Privacy Policy are complied with. We will process your personal information for the purposes listed in this section given our legitimate interest in undertaking marketing activities to offer you products or services that may be of your interest. You have the option to opt-out of our marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions included in our marketing communications or changing your notification settings within your Vention account.

3. Children and Our Services

Vention services are not directed to children, and you may not use our services if you are under the age of 13. You must also be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or under the applicable age limit (the “Age Limit”). If you are a parent of a child under the Age Limit and become aware that your child has provided personal information to Vention, please contact us at privacy@vention.io and you may request exercise of your applicable access, rectification, cancellation, and/or objection rights.

4. Your Rights

You may exercise any of the rights described in this section by sending an email to privacy@vention.io. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before taking further action on your request.

  • Data access and portability.

In some jurisdictions, applicable law may entitle you to request copies of your personal information held by us. You may also be entitled to request copies of personal information that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and/or request us to transmit this information to another service provider (where technically feasible).

  • Ability to rectify and erase your data.

We store data pertaining to you until it is no longer necessary to provide our services and products, or until your account is deleted. This is a case-by-case determination that depends on factors such as the nature of the data, why and how it was collected and processed, and relevant legal or operational retention needs. On written request and subject to proof of identity, you may consult the personal information that we have disclosed, and ask that any necessary corrections be made, where applicable, as authorized or required by law. To make sure that the personal information we maintain about you is accurate and up to date, please inform us immediately of any change in your personal information at privacy@vention.io.
