My Team is a powerfully collaborative feature, launched this past March, that allows you and your colleagues to work together across your organization. Easily collaborate on new equipment designs—from idea to design review to final assembly—whether you’re in the same department or completely different manufacturing facilities.

To access these tools, you’ll first need to create your team. On the Home dashboard, select Create a Team. This simple yet pivotal step lets you invite colleagues via email and track their progress across designs. Take a look at our quick how-to guide for more information.

Once your team has been created, here are three ways your organization can leverage this tool for a more collaborative experience.

1) Assign roles and unlock different levels of access
You can also assign specific roles to team members, such as design reviewer, procurement agent, or mechanical assembler. When a new user logs in from your organization, Vention will automatically suggest teams for them to join. If they request to join a team, the team admin must approve their request.

2) Create, share and oversee designs
When you invite someone to join your team, they are automatically granted read-only access to any of your designs with a privacy setting set to “My Team”. This setting can be changed on the Visibility tab of each design card.

To provide read-write access to your team members, you must individually add them as collaborators to specific designs. Design collaborators can modify the design, create design versions, add comments, and invite other collaborators. As collaborators work on the design, all modifications are tracked and can be easily retrieved by viewing the design history.

3) Keep an online archive
Perhaps the best part of the My Team feature is the ability to keep a full history of your machine designs from the moment a team is created. As design collaborators create and modify designs, all modifications are tracked and can be easily retrieved in the design list. Regardless of how many members join or leave your team, their design work, comments, and version progress will always remain accessible to you.

Stay tuned: we’re going to keep improving this feature. Over the next few months, our team will continue to add even more My Team components for upgraded dashboards, enhanced management features, and a better overall user experience.
