Collaborative robots are now a part of our manufacturing plants. They are being adapted to all types of applications and environments, which are as diverse as the manufacturing and automation engineers working in them.

We observed this phenomenon first hand at Vention through a unique angle: custom robot stands required for each robot arm deployed. Some clients are seeking telescopic robot stands, some are seeking a stand integrating both the arm and controller, and others are seeking a complete robot cell.

Deployment of collaborative robots is now mostly “plug and play” with the exception of the “robot stand” which is the last step and follows a very manual and customized process. To this day most robot stands are custom designed and then manufactured, adding cost and lead time to every robot deployment project.

Fortunately, when working with one of our clients who needed 40 robot stands for a large Universal Robots installation, we had the chance to look at this problem from a different angle. We decided to modularize the primary parts of robot stands and let users 3D assemble them online, creating an infinite amount of robot stand possibilities.

Vention now offers five different models of Universal Robots mounting plates, covering UR3, UR5 and UR10. In addition, users have already created over 10 public robot stand designs all of which are available for next day delivery.

This means that users can now adapt an existing stand or base from the public library or build their own from scratch, cutting down on the lead time and work required to get a fully customized piece of equipment for their specific application.
